Press Release 01/2008A New Approach in Public AffairsHans Bellstedt launches new PA firm combining consultancy services with a platform for open debate
Berlin/Brussels, 1.7.2008
Having finished a six-month creative break, Hans Bellstedt is returning to the Public Affairs scene by launching hbpa, his own consultancy firm. Commenting on his new venture in the heart of Berlin's government quarter, Bellstedt explained the firm's focus: “We support businesses, associations and institutions in their positioning vis-à-vis the political and public spheres. The room for manoeuvre and opportunities for growth in business are increasingly determined by the political framework conditions set on national and EU levels. We observe political decision-making processes, develop lobbying strategies and bring our clients together with decision-makers in government, parliament and the media."
The House of Public Affairs – A Political Discussion PlatformIn addition to its consultancy services, hbpa has also launched The House of Public Affairs as an open platform for political debate. At regular intervals, www.hbpa.eu/en/debates will be hosting pertinent commentaries on current political topics. Tobias Duerr, Editor-in-Chief of the Berliner Republik political magazine, has submitted the initial open editorial thoroughly analysing the current situation of the German Social Democratic party (SPD). Andreas Falke, Professor at the Economics and Social Sciences Department of Erlangen-Nuremberg University, urges German politicians to take a more active stance in international trade policy. Later in 2008, in addition to the online forum, The House of Public Affairs will be inviting participants to Round Tables and discussion events in Berlin-Mitte and Brussels.
Hans Bellstedt (44) has spent the best part of 20 years at the interface of business and politics. Before starting up hbpa, he was Managing Partner of Plato Communication, a PA and PR consultancy that he had founded in 1999. In the 1990s, Hans served as staffer to a member of the German Parliament before working at the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce and at ABB AG.
