Today, it is considered to be one of the biggest health risks in our society: loneliness. While the appointment of a Minister for Loneliness in the UK recieved widespread international news coverage in the beginning of 2018, the issue could soon after be found on the agenda of the German federal government thorugh the coalition agreement between CDU/CSU and SPD. Most recently, in the run-up to its annual conference in Davos, the World Economic Forum identified loneliness as high risk factor for Western countries in its Global Risks Report 2019. But the more politicians take on the issue of loneliness, the more important it becomes for businesses to address the question of how loneliness may effect their employees and how to deal with potential critical consequences in their day-to-day operations.
